On Wednesday, the weather was superb, at high tide, in Béchet Bay, when the brand new boat docked at the slipway in Ménard. On board, Nicolas Boivin and Jonathan Brousté, respectively responsible for the ports of Saint-Briac and Lancieux. On land, Vincent Denby Wilkes, the mayor, and Olivier Fatou, Lancieux municipal councillor responsible for nautical activities. Quite symbolic, since the ship is one of the links in the chain of the effective partnership that connects the two cities in different departments.
The boat was built at the shipyard Bord à bord from Plestin-les-Grèves (Côtes-d'Armor). 5,5 m long and 2 m wide, for a weight of one ton, it is propelled by a 50 HP outboard motor, particularly quiet. It can reach a speed of 17 knots. "It is also equipped with an 800-watt windlass, powerful enough to tow boats and lift moorings.", explains Nicolas Boivin.
